Nihon Ki-in

The Nihon Ki-in is Japan’s national Go association and the central organization for professional Go in the country. It administers professional-player qualifications and ranks, organizes and sanctions major tournaments, publishes Go materials, and supports the teaching and development of Go.
Its purpose is to govern and promote Go in Japan, maintain the professional system, and provide competitive and educational activities. The Nihon Ki-in is an organization—not a Go rule, playing technique, or tournament title. It should also not be confused with the separate Kansai Ki-in, another regional professional Go organization in Japan.
