Pass
A pass gives the opponent the next turn without placing a stone.
Also known as
A pass is a move in which a player places no stone and voluntarily gives up the current turn. Instead of playing on an empty point, the player passes, and the opponent receives the next turn. Two consecutive passes normally end the game and lead to scoring.
A player may pass when there is no useful move left, or when both players consider the playable phase finished. Passing gives up only the current turn: it is not resignation and does not concede the game.
Under some rulesets, a pass can affect scoring, particularly when passing stones or prisoner counts are used. Players should follow the scoring procedure specified by the applicable rules.
