Positive

In Go, Positive describes a move, plan, or style that actively pursues an advantage and improves the player’s position. A positive play may take territory, build influence, attack, apply pressure, or seize sente; its precise meaning depends on the position. It expresses an intention to make useful gains and keep the initiative instead of waiting passively for the opponent.

Positive does not necessarily mean aggressive or correct. An overplay can be active yet unsound, while a quiet move can still be strategically positive. The term is evaluative and context-dependent: a move that is positive in one position may be excessive or negative in another.
