A side-defense move in the shape of a knight’s jump.

A Footsweep (also written Foot sweep) is a defensive keima-shaped move played along the side of the board, from the fourth line to the second line. The stone moves one point laterally and two lines toward the edge, creating the familiar knight’s-jump shape.
Its purpose is to protect the side and help prevent or limit an opponent’s invasion. The name refers specifically to this side-defense application of a keima; it does not describe every move that happens to have a knight’s-jump shape.
