Reverse sente
A move valued for taking away the opponent’s sente opportunity.

Reverse sente is a move whose strategic value lies in denying the opponent a valuable sente continuation at the same location. The move may be gote for the player who makes it; if it is left open, however, the opponent can play there in sente.
Typically, the player occupies or resolves the position before the opponent can use it as sente. This may force a local reply or eliminate the opponent’s forcing sequence. The aim is to prevent the opponent from gaining the initiative and to secure the value of an important endgame or positional exchange.
Unlike ordinary sente, the move is not valuable because it forces the opponent to reply itself. Unlike double sente, its defining feature is denying the opponent’s sente opportunity. Whether a move truly qualifies depends on the exact local continuation and on the value of playing elsewhere first.
