The Avalanche joseki is a complex corner joseki in which the stones develop in a cascading pattern, producing many branching variations. It consists of a sequence of corner exchanges whose continuations depend heavily on move order, liberties, cutting points, and surrounding stones.
Its aim is to settle the corner while creating or resolving complicated tactical fights and influence on the adjacent sides. “Nadare” names a specific joseki family, not just any sequence that spreads or falls toward the side. A joseki continuation is not automatically appropriate: the correct variation depends on the whole-board position and precise reading.
