Parallel fuseki
An opening classification based on parallel arrangements of Black’s and White’s early corner stones.
Parallel fuseki is a fuseki pattern in which the early stones placed by Black and White in different corners form corresponding parallel lines or orientations. Across the board, these opening stones create parallel configurations rather than a diagonal arrangement.
The term describes the overall geometric character of the opening and helps distinguish related fuseki patterns. Unlike tasuki fuseki, in which the corresponding formations run diagonally across the board, parallel fuseki has formations that run in parallel. It is a classification of the opening’s arrangement, not a fixed sequence of moves, and it does not guarantee any particular strategic result.
