Tasuki fuseki
A diagonal opening pattern formed by early stones in opposing corners.

Tasuki fuseki is an opening pattern in which the early corner stones—typically placed on star points—form a diagonal arrangement across the board. The stones occupy diagonally opposed corners rather than corresponding corners in a parallel arrangement, creating the characteristic crossed, sash-like configuration.
This setup establishes a balanced whole-board opening. It gives both players opportunities to develop influence and territorial potential in opposite corners. The defining feature is the diagonal layout itself: in parallel fuseki, the corresponding early stones are arranged in parallel instead. Tasuki fuseki is also known as diagonal fuseki.
