Sanrensei fuseki
A three-star-point opening formation designed to build influence and a broad framework.

Sanrensei fuseki is a fuseki formation in which one player places three stones on consecutive hoshi, or star points, along one side of the board. The stones normally occupy the two adjacent corner star points and the intervening star point on that side, creating a continuous line of influence.
This arrangement develops broad outward influence and can support the construction of a large moyo or framework. Unlike nirensei, which uses two consecutive star-point stones, sanrensei uses three; yonrensei uses four. Sanrensei is a specific opening formation, not a complete strategy or joseki. It emphasizes influence and framework potential rather than immediately securing territory, so its value depends on the surrounding positions and on how the game continues.
