A bamboo joint is a strong connection shape in which stones are linked in a characteristic bamboo-joint formation, making the connected stones difficult to cut apart. The formation connects neighboring stone groups through a compact two-point connection pattern. Cutting it normally requires a special tactical sequence or favorable surrounding conditions.
Its purpose is to maintain a secure connection while preserving shape and reducing the opponent’s cutting opportunities.
