Tiger shape
A resilient Go formation that surrounds or controls a single point.
A tiger shape is a stone formation resembling a tiger’s mouth. Its stones work together to surround or control one intervening point while preserving a strong connection. It is a named shape pattern; a tiger’s mouth specifically describes the mouth-like one-point configuration itself.
The shape is strong because its stones mutually support one another, making it difficult to cut or attack the formation through the central point. It provides a compact, resilient connection and can help protect stones from cutting tactics. However, it is not automatically the best play: its value depends on the group’s liberties, nearby stones, and whether the opponent can exploit the point or cut nearby.
