Three crows is a named Go opening pattern in which three stones of one color form the characteristic “three crows” arrangement. The stones are coordinated opening stones, not the moves of a local joseki sequence, and together they create influence and the potential for a large framework.
The formation is intended to develop broad territorial or influential prospects across multiple corners and sides. It is a specific named fuseki pattern—not simply any position containing three stones, and not another name for sanrensei. The name identifies the shape rather than guaranteeing its value: its effectiveness depends on the surrounding stones, the move order, and the balance of the whole board.
