trumpet connection

A named Go connection shape with a characteristic flaring, trumpet-like form.

A trumpet connection is a connection pattern in which stones widen or flare like a trumpet while linking the stones or groups involved. The stones connect through the shape’s adjacent supporting stones and connection points, creating a recognizable trumpet-like configuration.

The term is used to describe and identify a particular connection shape during tactical analysis. It names a shape pattern, not a separate rule, and it should not be treated as a general term for every connection. Because the expression is relatively descriptive, players and teaching materials may use it less consistently than standard connection terms such as direct connection or bamboo joint.
